Today is April Fool’s Day. It’s also my half birthday. I am 43.5 today.
Being April Fool’s Day, I feel the need to make it clear that the following is not an April Fool’s joke:
I’ve decided that today serves as the perfect day to start finishing and finish starting all those creative projects/ideas/things, floating somewhere in the ether of my mind or on my Mac.
I am going to attempt to create, finish and publish three somethings a week for – let’s say – the foreseeable future.
Correction: I am absolutely going to create, finish and publish three somethings a week for the remainder of 2014 (at least).
Yikes. Now that I’ve put such a statement in print I find myself imbued suddenly with a sense of accountability (not a bad thing).
What is a something?
A song, an article, a photograph, a video, a musing.
There are three simple rules:
1. Three (or more) somethings a week shall be published via this website. The something may live on Youtube or Soundcloud or somewhere else, or it may be an article or photograph which will live just on this site. Either way, I’ll shout about it and link to it from here.
2. The somethings should do such things as bless/entertain/enrich/put a smile on a face/move/provoke thought and should not be gratuitous or egotistical. They may be a tad eccentric (or not). I can’t necessarily control that.
3. A week runs Monday to Sunday. No cheating.
“But you haven’t finished you book,” I hear some of you saying. I know. Reasons include my own recent meltdown, procrastination and perfectionism and an overwhelming sense of the hugeness of the task which has exponentially increased in magnification before my eyes, simply because I haven’t finished it for so long. Hopefully, finishing other creative projects will help me get moving again on my book.
I look forward to finishing some stuff and creating some more and I invite you to come along for the ride in whatever capacity you would like to.
